Congratulations to the Inductees for the 2011 MP Corps Regimental Hall of Fame!

MP Leaders,
In preparation for the 70th Military Police Corps Anniversary and Regimental Week activities, I have come to the decision to capitalize on the great accomplishments of those individuals who made this Regiment what it is today. The specific event is our annual Hall of Fame Induction. As this process has evolved over the years you will see fluctuations in the number of Inductees from five to as few as two in the years 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008 and now initially in 2010. With 22 nominations for induction this year alone, the program is growing significantly, especially within the past three years. This trend has caused me to relook the processes used to select our finest for this prestigious high honor. In my view, with the volume of packets, some containing as many as 20 letters of recommendation have caused board members to use varying subjective metrics in voting. Therefore, I have directed a review of the regulation governing the selection process in order to maintain the integrity of the Military Police Corps Regimental Hall of Fame. The rewritten Nomination and Board Process Regulation will be reviewed by a panel of Hall of Fame members, with their input being incorporated into a final text. I believe the results of the updated regulation will enhance the overall nomination and selection process. This year a board consisted of Active and Reserve component leaders, along with retirees and a Hall of Fame member. They convened on the 4th of May, reviewing and voting the 22 nominee packets. The difference numerically between the top 20% of the nominees was mathematically insignificant. As your Commandant, based on the original voting results, I have made the decision to widen the pool of selectees this year. In addition to 1SG (R) Strand and CSM (R) Jones, we will be inducting MG (R) Ryder, CSM (R) Amour and COL (R) Rees (Deceased) giving us a total of five inductees this year. All five are most deserving of this honor, having significantly impacted our regiment while on active duty, following retirement or in most cases both.
