CSM Terrence W. Murphy

Command Sergeant Major Terrence W. Murphy was born in Amarillo, Texas on June 29, 1965. He joined the active duty military on October 20, 1983 attending Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Throughout his 28 year career he has served in a variety of leadership positions from Team Leader to Command Sergeant Major. His assignments include the 5th Engineer Battalion, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, 547th Engineer Battalion, Darmstadt Germany, 4th Engineer Battalion, Ft. Carson, CO, 317th Engineer Battalion, Camp Eschborn, Germany, 5th Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, 91st Engineer Battalion, 1CD,and Ft. Hood, TX, and the 44th Engineer Battalion, Camp Howze Korea, HHC 317th Engineer Battalion, Ft. Benning, GA as the 1SG, and Sergeant Major of the TRADOC Systems Manager and the Counter Explosive Hazards Center at the Maneuver Support Center and the United States Army Engineer School, Battalion Command Sergeant Major for the first Modular Combat Effects Engineer Battalion in the Army the 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas. CSM Murphy was the 36th Engineer Brigade CSM, Fort Hood, TX prior to assuming his current role as the United States Army Engineer School Regimental CSM. CSM Murphy's deployments include Reforger 1987, Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, three deployments to Operation Desert Spring, One Year at the Mine Action Center as Data NCO and NCOIC, Bosnia Herzegovina, Mission Training Team to Chad Africa, Foal Eagle 1998 and Operation Iraqi Freedom initial conflict , Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08, Operation Iraqi Freedom 09-10 and Operation New Dawn.

CSM Murphy's military and civilian education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advance Noncommissioned Officers Course, Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officers Course, First Sergeants Course, and United States Army Sergeant Major Academy Class 54. CSM Murphy is a graduate of Colorado Technical University with a Bachelor's Degree Magna Cum Laude in Criminal Justice and Master's Degree in Management from Colorado Technical University. He was an Adjunct Instructor with Central Texas College and the Former Chief of Police of Nolanville, Texas.

His awards include Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (4th award), Meritorious Service Medal (3th Award), Army Commendation Medal (8th Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), Southwest Asia Medal with 4 Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary Medals, OIF Campaign Medal, Kuwait Liberation and the Liberation of Kuwait Medals, NATO Medal, Valorous Unit Citation, and the Presidential Unit Citation as well as being a Bronze Defleury Medal recipient. He is also a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy and Sergeant Morales Clubs as well as the of the Order of the Spur.

He was married to the former Rhonda Covington of Washington, DC, (Deceased) and they have two Daughters, Jessica who resides in Phoenix City Alabama, and Christine of Killeen, Texas.
