FRG Leadership Page

Resources

Your number one reference to FRG operations is Army Regulation 608-1, Army Community Service, Appendix J Family Readiness Group Operations. It can be downloaded from the Army Publishing Directorate website along with many other regulations that effect FRGs.

The U.S. Army FRG Leader's Handbook provides additional guidance on how to effectively run a FRG. The accompanying Smart Book (7 MB) provides sample administrative documents.

All volunteers who hold a position within the FRG need to be registered with the Army Volunteer Corps Coordinator (AVCC) with a signed DD Form 2793 on file at the unit. The Fort Leonard Wood AVCC is located in building 486, the Army Community Service Center, 596-0212. Volunteer hours should be provided to the FRSA or uploaded directly to the Volunteer Management Information System (VMIS).

Training

It is very important that both the commander and FRG leader attend FRG leader training either through ACS or online through My Army One Source. The same link also provides Rear Detachment Commander Training.

ACS also offers other classes for FRG leaders such as AFTB II (personal skill development), AFTB III (advanced leadership skills), Care Team training, checkbook management, and more. Call them at 596-1671 for dates and times.

Additional training may be available through installation FRG Roundtables and conferences.
