1st Battalion - 48th Infantry Regiment Command Sergeant Major's Biography

Sergeant Major Thomas W. Kunnmann is a native of Stony Brook, NY. He enlisted in the U.S Army in April 1999, attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA, where he was awarded the Infantry (11B) Military Occupational Specialty.

Sergeant Major Kunnmann’s duty positions consisted of Rifleman; Weapons Squad Team Leader; Rifle Squad Team Leader; Squad Leader; Weapons Squad Leader; Platoon Sergeant; Troop First Sergeant; HHC First Sergeant; and BDE Operations Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Kunnmann’s assignments include 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, GA; 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Brigade, Fort Campbell, KY; 1st Squadron 32nd Cavalry Regiment, Fort Campbell, KY; and the 205th Infantry Brigade, Camp Atterbury, IN. His deployments consist of three deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and two deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Sergeant Major Kunnmann’s Military education includes the Basic Leadership Course; Advanced Leadership Course; Senior Leadership Course; Sergeant’s Major Course (Class 66); Airborne Course; Air Assault Course; Pathfinder Course; Ranger Course; Battle Staff Operations; and the Master Resilience Training Course. His civilian education includes a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
